I have finally convinced S.O. that he needs to let go and design things for the sapphires we mined in Montana, and he showed me this today. Unfortunately, I now still have to convince him not to hoard it for himself like a damn dragon.
He was mad that I posted because he said that was a shitty rendering so he made me stay awake until he finished a new render (that apparently still isn't finished, but better? Idk I have no eye)
@AriCohn this is stunning!
it’s beautiful! not something I would wear (cuz pointy bits on a ring and playing ukulele (guitar, whatever) don’t get along so well.
definitely elegant and flowing.
@AriCohn That is gorgeous.
Ari, in my head this is now how you met your SO.
I thought it looked better in gold. But taste is subjective.
@cwbussard
He likes it better in the yellow gold as well
@AriCohn I think they're both lovely and he should hurry up and make the real thing :)
@AriCohn it's gorgeous!
@AriCohn oh, lol, I thought this was a finished piece, I went to his shop to look.
@WhenISayJ
I'll let you know when he finishes tinkering!
That looks pretty awesome.
@AriCohn I need to hear more about mining sapphires in Montana. Is this a destination vacation I can plan for my rockhounding SO?
We went to Gem Mountain in Philipsburg. If you go during the right time of year, you can go to the mine itself, but even in the months the mine itself is closed, they haul gravel to the store location where you can wash/sift/hunt away. The folks there are incredibly nice, and they have a cutting service if you decide to get any of the bigger ones faceted.
And you *will* find sapphires.
