Filed in 2020 under the #Trump admin, the case — US et al v. Google — focuses narrowly on the co’s popular #SearchEngine, alleging #Google used the tool’s 90% #market share to illegally throttle #competition in both #search & search #advertising.
But the #trial has more expansive implications for the internet giant’s #business ambitions. It is part of a broad reappraisal in DC of the common wisdom that the #internet is #open by nature &therefore can #SelfRegulate through #FreeMarket competition.
