There are numerous laws and regulations that apply to hospitals that accept medicare dollars. Most Catholic hospitals (perhaps all?) do.
The Department of Health and Human Services has argued in court that ERs at such hospitals are required to provide abortions in emergent situations.

@Nonilex I'm not watching the debate, so perhaps there is additional context here that I am missing, but your general statement that the federal government can't force Catholic hospitals to do stuff is not the position of the Biden administration.

@Nonilex Actually, you wouldn't be stating all this if Walz had "killed it". IMO, he was awful, Vance is a goldfish, so many softball pitches and he whiffed it. He got lulled to sleep with Vance's nice guy act. Everybody forgets you don't get points selling to who has already bought. He should have totally dismantled Vance in the eyes of undecided, instead he looked like he needed more time to study. We aren't republicans, call it as it was.
