The move came after the #DOJ in recent weeks took unusual steps to advance the investigation, having a #Trump-appointed US Atty submit a warrant request when career prosecutors were unwilling & seeking prosecutors in other offices who would agree to participate in the case….

The #Trump admin ran into its first roadblock…,when a snr career prosecutor in the US Atty’s office in DC resigned rather than carry out the demand to freeze the funds over *possible* [no evidence] wire fraud. But the investigation did not end…
Interim US Atty #EdMartin then personally submitted a seizure warrant application w/o any other prosecutors in his office that was rejected by a US magistrate judge in DC, who found that the #DOJ failed to establish a reasonable belief a crime occurred.
