The move sent the measure to the , where are facing a political dilemma over whether to support it & hand wide leeway to continue his assault on federal programs & workers, or oppose it & risk being blamed for a govt .

The bill would keep spending levels largely flat, but would increase spending for the military by $6B. It would slightly decrease spending overall, it would not include funds for any projects. And it would force a cut of >$1B from DC’s budget.

@Nonilex It also takes control of Tariffs from congress and hands it to him.

@Nonilex No Democrats! It’s a trap!

@Nonilex Let the majority party try and blame the minority for shutting down the government. They own whatever the government does, and everyone knows it. Dems shouldn’t collaborate with these Nazi fuckers.

⬆️ @Nonilex >> Senate #Democrats are facing a political dilemma over whether to support it & hand #Trump wide leeway to continue his assault on federal programs & workers, or oppose it & risk being blamed for a govt #shutdown.

#Republicans are shutting down the government department by department. #Appeasement never produces the desired result. If they are shutting things down piecemeal anyway, grow a spine. #GoBallistic.

There you go…

"Elon Musk has wanted a #government shutdown in part because it would make it easier to eliminate the jobs of hundreds of thousands of federal workers… not about saving #money… but destroying a liberal power base”

WIRED · Elon Musk Has Wanted the Government ShutdownBy Jake Lahut

@Nonilex Just don’t #SenateDems. The #HouseDems weren’t even asked to the table yet one voted yea. Even one R stood up and voted no…against all of the Rs! Why can’t you Dems stick together just once?🙄

@Nonilex Here's the problem... we're screwed either way. If the bill goes through, all kinds of nasty things happen but hopefully those can be argued in court.

If the bill *doesn't* pass and the government shuts down, Trump will declare DOGE an emergency function and Musk can continue rampaging through agencies with nobody in the buildings to oppose him.

We've seen what he's doing, imagine how fast he'll move if nobody is there to kick sand in his face.

@Shdwdrgn @Nonilex a bit like arguing that it's an emergency function to optimize the engine's fuel use when there's no gas in the tank

They'll try, but it sticks out for what it is and can be fought in court

The alternative is to effectively ratify the lawbreaking so far and leave precedent that this is fine. And by the way, the way they're allowing the President more control over tariffs is to redefine the meaning of a day

Think a little on how that could be abused…
