#Trump deported >200 supposed members of Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan prison gang, to El Salvador this weekend, multiple members of the Trump admin said on social media on Sunday.
It was not immediately clear if the #deportations happened before or after a federal judge in DC on Sat issued an emergency order that told the admin to stop using wartime powers to #deport anyone, & turn around any planes already in the air.

"Thanks to the great work of the Department of State, these heinous monsters were extracted & removed to El Salvador where they will no longer be able to pose any threat to the American People," #Trump WH press secy Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.
"Ooopsie… too late," El Salvador's Pres Nayib #Bukele posted, in response to the judicial order.
#Bukele posted a video on Sun of what he says is 238 members of Tren de Aragua arriving in #ElSalvador. He said they would be transferred to CECOT, the Terrorism Confinement Center in the country, for 1 year.
#MarcoRubio, #Trump’s secy of #State, last month said Bukele had agreed to accept deportees from the US of ANY NATIONALITY [including US #citizens]. Bukele's social media posts on Sun refer to "a very low fee" that the #US paid to El Salvador for the #deportations.
You are the threat.
@Nonilex When the government clearly ignores the court order and injunctions, the USA is in a very, very dangerous place. Not helped by Bukele being more than happy to also ignore it and accept these people. No one even knows for sure if any of them are members of the Tren de Aragua. Using a law created to deal with a war situation and a hostile country to deport people is terrifying. USA is no longer a democracy, and won’t be as long as this administration continues in control.

Here is a 2024 quote from the VP of El Salvador.
“To these people who say democracy is being dismantled, my answer is yes, we are not dismantling it, we are eliminating it, we are replacing it with something new,” Félix Ulloa, the vice president of El Salvador, told The New York Times earlier this month, days before El Salvador’s presidential election.
It seems that El Salvador's government aligns perfectly with trump's.
@Barbramon1 @Nonilex How many other countries have quietly aligned with this monstrous disappearance of anything remotely resembling democracy? USA, Russia, El Salvador, UK in a quiet way, Israel, Hungary, ……. And those are the ones we know of.
@HarriettMB @Nonilex
Absolutely. I worry about more countries in our hemisphere uniting with trump. Many Central and South American countries are poor and are no strangers to authoritarian rule. US has interfered in the internal affairs of so many nations in our hemisphere that they may be afraid of retaliation if they do not comply with trump's extortion
Eternal gratitude to Mexico for standing strong.
@Nonilex It is not exactly unexpected. Mass deportations for a fee isn’t a new concept. It’s been done before, by quite a few countries who since then scrubbed their history books for some odd reasons.
