Over the weekend, the #Trump admin ignored a federal judge’s order not to deport a group of Venezuelan men, violating an instruction that could not have been plainer or more direct.
#DOJ attys later justified the…actions w/contentions that many #legal experts said bordered on frivolous.…again raising the question of whether the latest clash between Trump & the #judiciary amounts to a #ConstitutionalCrisis.

Legal scholars say that is no longer the right inquiry. #Trump is already undercutting the #SeparationOfPowers at the heart of the constitutional system, …& the right question…is how it will transform the nation.
“If anyone is being detained or removed based on the admin’s assertion that it can do so without judicial review or #DueProcess, the president is asserting dictatorial power & #ConstitutionalCrisis doesn’t capture the gravity of the situation,” said Jamal Greene, #law prof at Columbia.
@Nonilex@masto.ai I think the right question, honestly, is whether the nation will survive in any form we still recognize.
@Nonilex
Let's ask Chuckles Schumer what he thinks about this?
@Nonilex I'm very much afraid we're going to start seeing Congress and the courts start to pretend to hold Trump accountable, and perhaps even Trump slightly cooperating with the appearance of being restrained, whereas in reality he will be ruling as a king. It will become more important to those in the government to hold on to the name of their offices than the powers their offices hold.
@Nonilex Even if it is not a Constitutional crisis it is certainly an ethical crises as the maga/DoJ attorneys disregard their obligations of candor and truthfulness.
The positions they advocate are crazy and the lawyers asserting them deserve to be sanctioned by the courts and the bar associations.
