I agree with Maya Sen who said, “The fact that the world’s richest man works at the behest of the executive & can buy out the #legislature is massively outside the scope of what the framers could have imagined. there’s is simply no constitutional measure that can guard against something like this.”
@Nonilex It is reprehensible. However….
Is it really outside of what the framers wanted? They were wealthy white landowners and slave owners who created the Senate and the electoral college because they didn’t trust “lesser” people to vote correctly. Senators initially weren’t even elected by the people!
@Nonilex The POS should be in jail FFS! #eattherich (not that I would, for fear of poisoning myself).
@Nonilex Not to distract from the severity of buying votes, but I just noticed something and I wonder how long this has been going on for?
In the headline and one other place, they mention "President Trump". But then through the rest of the article he is only referred to as "Mr. Trump". Are they throwing some shade here? I don't remember any other time an article has referred to the person currently elected as anything other than "President", even after they have left office.
Or am I being too hopeful?
@Nonilex Also... free link in case anyone needs it.
