Secret policy shift could overwhelm #SocialSecurity offices
On Wed, the #SocialSecurity Admin (#SSA) enacted a new policy that could impose massive demands on the agency's overburdened network of field offices, acc/to an internal SSA message…. Although the new policy will impact millions annually, it was not publicly announced. "The havoc & destruction they’re causing is no doubt going to break the agency & hurt the public," an SSA source familiar w/the new policy said.

"sign up to host a rally yourself. We'll help you do it. But on a personal level, we also do think that you should get a hard copy, so go to my ssa.gov & print out a hard copy of your statement so that you have that because I don't trust these #Doge goons to not be messing around online.

"Together, the two policies could send up to 160,000 additional people to SSA field offices each week as the agency slashes 12% of its staff and closes dozens of field offices. Even before these changes, the average wait time for an in-person appointment was one month, and some people had to travel 100 miles to reach their nearest field office."
