DC US District Court Judge Ana C Reyes during today’s hearing told #DOJ she that she wouldn’t be "gaslit" by them when they claimed that their ban on transgender people in the military isn't actually a "ban."
She pointed to a post by Secy of #Defense #PeteHegseth in which he literally called it a ban.
"You're saying one thing in public. You're saying a different thing in court," Reyes said.
Judge Reyes demanded #DOJ offer ANY evidence that the #transgender ban is addressing an actual problem as opposed to a pretext to #discriminate against transgender people.
Reyes noted that #DOD policies already require the #military to identify people w/debilitating medical conditions & that would cover people w/ gender *dysphoria* who are unable to serve.
"Everything in the record is that it’s a pretext. There is nothing in the record that this was a deliberative process."
