Yesterday I was trying to explain to someone who was convinced #TrumpVoters were in the midst of a rude awakening because suddenly their grandmas weren’t getting social security benefits, that they were still all in; somehow rationalizing it, like, “yeah it sucks about grandma, but most people getting those benefits are Welfare Queens or dead.”

@Nonilex The GOP has been playing the right for fools for decades now. They've been working on those lines that convince people who think only of their own hate for others they never met and don't know for so long now that they have it down to a science. In truth the number of people who cheat those systems, just like the number of "illegal" immigrants who commit major crimes is actually shockingly low, but these people think there are whole crime rings formed around this stuff.

Wait until they get kicked out of nursing homes and assisted living facilities for non-payment. Being forced to take care of broke grandma might interfere with all that freedom they enjoy.

They are literally too stupid, that demographic must be worked around, they must be dragged forward through history. There is no reaching them with rationality because at a fundemental level their brains do not work, they're operating with half the hydraulic fluid of your average person.
You don't appeal to their rationality, you put a helmet on them and corral them away from where they can potentially wander into traffic.

All your quotes and most American media use "Grandma" as the typical person rendered helpless and destitute by the U.S. government revoking the retirement all U.S. workers paid into over their whole working lives.
Social Security benefits support many more men, those whose unpaid labor for men made them ineligible for their own waged benefits and those too young to earn their own benefits.
But US media consistently presents SSA cuts as hurting "Grandma"
USians simply do not care about elderly old women.
Liberals should pick more photogenic victims.
