The #Trump admin is citing the #AlienEnemiesAct in new #extraditions.
The Trump admin said on Monday that it planned to #extradite a handful of #Venezuelan men to #Chile after declaring them subject to the AEA.
In a statement, #DOJ ofcls said 3 men had been declared “alien enemies” & would be sent to Chile to face #criminal charges there. The men are Venezuelan citizens, though one is also a citizen of Ecuador & another a citizen of Colombia.

#Extradition is a long-established, frequently used process of sending accused criminals to face charges in another country. By citing the #AlienEnemiesAct, #Trump is highlighting its aggressive posture on the contested #legal issue without taking steps that might be deemed to violate a #TRO issued by federal Judge #Boasberg.
Because the men are being extradited to face charges in a foreign country, their cases are different from the hurried #deportations of >200 #Venezuelans this month.
In the announcement Mon, the #Trump admin again criticized Judge #Boasberg. “We would have already removed these violent gang members to Chile to face justice were it not for the nationwide injunction imposed by a single judge,” said #ToddBlanche, the deputy AG & Trump fmr #criminal defense atty who lost the falsified business records to hide Trump’s #HushMoney payment to #StormyDaniels before the 2016 election. Blanche added, “We hope common sense & justice will prevail.”
"How can you put a single judge against our single King!!"
@Nonilex I feel like the administration just thinks anything south of the border is just “Mexico” and are sending the “Mexicans” to “Mexico”.
@Nonilex I suppose to the Trump administration all those countries south of Mexico are the same, as “they all speak the same or similar language”.
@Nonilex So all those times the legal types told us it wasn't worth taking old laws off the books, we could just stop enforcing them...
How's that going now?
