Here Are the Attack Plans That #Trump’s Advisers Shared on Signal
The admin has downplayed the importance of the text messages inadvertently sent to #TheAtlantic’s editor in chief.

So, about that #Signal chat.
On Monday, shortly after we published a story about a massive #Trump-admin #security breach, a reporter asked the secretary of #defense, #PeteHegseth, why he had shared plans about a forthcoming attack on #Yemen on the Signal messaging app. He answered, “Nobody was texting war plans. And that’s all I have to say about that.”
At a Senate hearing yesterday, the director of national #intelligence, #TulsiGabbard, and the director of the #CIA, John #Ratcliffe, were both asked about the #Signal chat, to which #JeffreyGoldberg, the editor in chief of #TheAtlantic, was inadvertently invited by #NationalSecurity Adviser #MikeWaltz. “There was no #classified material that was shared in that Signal group,” Gabbard told members of the #Senate Intelligence Cmte.
#Ratcliffe said much the same: “My communications, to be clear, in the #Signal message group were entirely permissible & lawful & did not include classified information.”
#Trump, asked yesterday afternoon…, said, “It wasn’t #classified information.”
These stmnts presented us w/a dilemma. In #TheAtlantic’s initial story about the Signal chat—the “Houthi PC small group,” as it was named by #MikeWaltz—we withheld specific info related to weapons & to the timing of attacks…in certain texts.
As a general rule, we do not publish info about #military ops if that info could possibly jeopardize lives of #US personnel. That is why we chose to characterize the nature of the info being shared, not specific details about attacks.
The stmnts by #Hegseth, #Gabbard, #Ratcliffe, & #Trump—combined w/the assertions made by numerous admin ofcls that we are lying about the content of the #Signal texts—have led us to believe that people should see the texts in order to reach their own conclusions.
Then there’s a bunch of self-congratulating & a ridiculous number of emojis.
#TheAtlantic’s #JefferyGoldberg also published all 18 #Trump officials who participated in this #Signal group chat (19 members with Goldberg counted).
@Nonilex
Let's pick one.
#TulsiGabbard is incompetent or lied to the #Senate committee.
#Signal
@RememberUsAlways Maybe both. Why pick one. @Nonilex
@AlliFlowers @Nonilex
Yes. Both is acceptable.
@RememberUsAlways @Nonilex
I think she could be both. Not mutually exclusive!
@Nonilex "principles group"--that's FUNNY.
@Nonilex
FUCKTHEMEACHANDEVERYONE
@Nonilex JD Vance text really stand out as non professional compared with the others.
@Nonilex Marco Rubio so devious he has 2 signal profiles
I don't think they should be high-fiving a building collapsing on anyone. Another example of their shocking disregard for humanity. I'm sickened.
Another fun observation; personal AKA not secure, phones?
If it was government issued, wouldn't it be something like "USVicePres" and "USDoDSecDef" not "J D Vance" and "Hegseth"?
At this point, I realize it could have been - worse -
- a Hegseth, but not - thee - DoD Hegseth
- a JD Vance, but not - thee - US VP Vance
- a "private" Twitter chat room.
@Nonilex I'm pretty sure hegseth wasn't typing the "TEAM UPDATE", this went through the device's clipboard...from where?
@Nonilex how many more were in the girlfriends building when they collapsed it. Zero humanity in these shits
@Nonilex the Atlantic editor voluntarily treats national security info more responsibly than our government’s national security leadership.
@Nonilex it doesn't look good no matter what. Clinton was chastised for her emails. Here, Cotton is defending officials on the basis of a thin game of semantics (those before us did nothing incriminating, not naming those that weren't or speaking to what those missing did as improper) Meanwhile, evidence is in the hands of the Atlantic, by way of a complete accident because a journalist was brought into a chat by mistake (perhaps not if someone's account was smished) and if they release it, will be eviscerated for treason. Yet, TG, is a huge Snowden simpathizer!
@Nonilex
In the "That's nice, but..." department, ISTR that DOD prohibits Signal use even for unclass material.
So they're still in violation six ways from Sunday. <Expletives>!
