Just opened #LinkedIn to congratulate an old student of mine with her new job. Next to this joyful news, I was met with a bunch of nitwits claiming that Elon's sieg Heil was "a normal person grabbing his heart and throwing it in the crowd" and a bunch of other "hot takes" that were equally backwards.
That's when I decided to close that tab again. Too bad it's one of the only ways to keep in contact with some people I wish fair winds on the high seas of life.
What’s up with them? Still in development? Their demo site seems offline, hope they did not shut down. Project looks super promising.

From my observation, they are active. I guess it's again a matter of manpower and maybe they share here how to help them.
The preview of their technology is really great and in the meantime I even updated my OrcID profile.
@devSJR @danieldekay @JorisMeys hey there! Yeah we are still rolling :) mostly heads down on finishing the 1.0 release hence we are not communicating much new experimentations lately. But we aim to put the testing server online again in 2-3 weeks with *lots* of improvements.
Ofc manpower has always been a huge limit as well as finances, but we will get there

Thanks for the quick reply! I have been looking for an alternative to Facebook (who isn’t) for the global #tango communities.
#friendica ticks many boxes, but the lack of modern usability is a big risk factor. #bonfire looks like it could fill that gap perfectly.
@danieldekay @bonfire @devSJR @JorisMeys at this weekend’s meeting of queer tango organizers in DC, we talked about starting to move off of Meta. We agreed we’d leave the old pages up with pointers to where to find us.
I think the tango community’s reliance on FB has been a problem for a while. I have to pass announcements along to the gen Z members of our community, since they aren’t on it.

One of the Brooklyn folks set it up and told folks at Conexión (Miami QT festival) about it last April and then more joined after Íntimamente (Brooklyn QT marathon a week ago). It’s still pretty small, but it seems to have hit critical mass for conversations about organizing
