@edendestroyer In our current system, bad choices are often all people have, so to judge based upon that, which is at least 80% birth lottery, is beyond ridiculous.

@edendestroyer Brilliant ;-)

Not difficult is it? You made mistakes, so die in poverty and fear - or you made mistakes so how can we help?

Stones, Glasshouses and most of us one paycheck from homeless and some still don't get it.

People need shelter and space, food and safety, grace and dignity.

You start there, you dont end there.

Just everything.

Every basic thing. These are the free gifts of civilisation.

@edendestroyer this isn't capitalism at all! I want a refund

@edendestroyer Back before Social Security, both my parents remember old people publicly abandoned to die of exposure or hunger, often for their poor choice of parents, exposure to tuberculosis or leprosy, or inability to continue to labor in the cane fields.
The largest projected growth in houselessness is in the elderly. What kind of society punishes the impoverished and abandons them to die on the streets?

@pattykimura @edendestroyer Being homeless is my greatest fear. I am not very far away from it right now. I'll be evicted from this house soon (not sure when), and then I will have nowhere to go. No family, no friends with space... Nothing. I'm going to work with DSS and SSI to see if I can get housing when I have to leave here. Look for a GoFundMe in the future.

@QuickWeasel @edendestroyer Start applying for HUD, state, USDA affordable housing communities to get on wait lists - many have wait lists bec there is a massive shortage of affordable subsidized housing. Apply for a Sec 8 voucher. Don't wait. Biden HUD is funding more new housing, but it will take time to build. Good luck.

@edendestroyer wrong, the correct option is to not house them regardless of what happened, because of all the money organizations tasked with "solving homelessness" make every year, actually ending homelessness would mean those organizations don't have a reason to exist
