In the last week I finally watched three of the movies that ran for the #Oscars (including the BP winner). One of the best Oscar years in recent memory.
- #EverythingEverywhereAllAtOnce is the only winner in latter years that has funny comedy alongside the drama.
- #TheWhale, even if overwrought at times, has fantastic performances (though I'm not surprised Aronofsky didn't get BD).
- #TheFabelmans is not the best, but very heartfelt.
Frankly, I didn't expect to like #EEAAO as much as I did (I've become very distrustful of the Academy), but even if the interpersonal drama is somewhat "simple", the way it unfolds is just elegant and well developed. It's also funny, which gives it some rest from the drama, and all the crazy action made it something that I wish I had seen at the big screen.
It's also incredible that most of the movie just happens in *two* places, and yet it feels so dynamic.
