@bluedotmo @rbreich I don't have any surviving uncle's, so 'Uncle Bob, the right-wing republican', is actually a couple of cousins. Fortunately they all live at the other end of the country so I only have to deal with them through social media.

@rbreich Aww. My late Uncle Bob was an avowed socialist and social worker whose career was spent fighting for the poor and disabled. He gave me a subscription to @thenation long before I had any idea what it was about. I’d give ANYTHING to be able to spend a holiday dinner talking politics with him.

@rbreich I deal with them by walking away. My dad always told me, when you argue with a fool, you become one yourself. I don't know who said this originally but it makes complete sense.

POSSIBLY on my husband’s side but he hasn’t spoken to them in 18 years after someone made a racist comment/did something vile toward me.

@rbreich if MAGAs were swayed by facts, they wouldn't be MAGAs. You continue to pretend like they are arguing in good faith. Allowing them to keep up this pretense helps the MAGAs. Their goal isn't to have a discussion about taxes and immigrants. It's to act as if racism toward immigrants is a worthy topic of debate..

Trickle-On Economics: factory owners build new factories whenever they have a few extra dollars, therefore tax cuts to the wealthy create jobs.
Sane person: Factory owners only build new factories when they think they can sell the output of said factories, therefore increasing the disposable income of everyone other than the wealthy creates jobs.
@rbreich sadly my Uncle Bob was a Trumpster through and through. In 2016 he went off the deep end, he started stalking me and picking fights on every social media. Then he would leave me the DMs telling me that I should just kill myself and make it easier on everyone else. I had to block my own uncle. He died in 2017, I wish he was around long enough to come out of the crazy fog and reconcile. He was my fave uncle as a kid.
