Tyranny is coming to the USA. It is now somewhat comparable to the state takeover by Putin from 1999, but with fast forward.
The analogy even extends to the previous administration having arranged immunity for themselves and the nominal opposition having been so severely Stockholm'ed that they agree to almost anything to keep ceremonial opposition jobs.
USAns serving in the military need to brush up on when a direct order is unlawful, and they need to think through in advance how they will respond when they are issued an unlawful order.
@rbreich I think a lot of us are well aware of what is happening. And we also know that we need to defend democracy. But how? Protests don't work. Peaceful resistance over and over simply results in a lot of people being arrested on trumped up charges, getting criminal records (unfairly), losing their jobs because of said criminal record, and possibly losing their homes, and or their lives. So what is the real answer to how we defend democracy without a literal fight? I am all ears.
