I find plenty about this infuriatingly enraging (which my boosts highlight) but down the list – after multiple assaults on the first amendment – is the dumbfounding fact that the restaurant owner complained about the newspaper, even though they decided *not to run* the (factual) story about the idiot’s past drunkenness.
It was already public record. Because it happened.

The Record did not seek out the information. Rather, it was provided by a source who sent it to the newspaper via social media and also sent it to Herbel.

I'm torn, because in amongst an important, likely-formative story in the history of American journalism & fascism… is this human – Kari Newell – who's probably just an asshole.
I've no idea if she'd been trying to keep her side of the street clean since 2008 – when her license was suspended for #drunkdriving – but she's failed lately.
She's going through a divorce, trying to run a business... and now her dirty laundry is being aired out to thousands, maybe millions.

I came across this quote earlier, which she'd be wise to heed were she to hear it – as would the cops – if it's not too late:
"The best revenge is none. Heal, move on, and don't become like those who hurt you."
That is at the core of so much s#it that goes down – people hurting one another, usually unnecessarily. All the best news tries to do is tell you about it.
