@atpfm @siracusa on your idea for a AppleID verification via ID/passport: my guess is that Apple may not want to have this option for privacy reasons. If the “backdoor” of moving ownership of an AppleID is technically possible, it might be used by governments (by law or judicial order) to transfer ownership and obtain private info (imagine in the case of a terrorist attack). Just my 2 cents, no insider knowledge.
