Everyone. We really need to bring back app icons that are not all the same shape. Look how much easier it is to find the app you need on the first image (Windows 11) because icons have different shapes versus the second image (Android) where all icons are squircles.

Okay, it's probably not as objective as I would like, but to me it's so much easier to have another factor with which to differentiate icons from each other. I can't remember the how many times I've had to go through all of the pages scrolling repeatedly just to find the app I wanted to open. And yes, even when the apps are sorted alphabetically, because they're called app *icons*, not app names.

@teacherbuknoy The OC in me prefers them all to be in uniform shape. 😅

@luthien1126 that's okay. I'm sure our capitalist overlords can give us options. They should!!!

@teacherbuknoy
Google is the worst. not only are all of their icons the same 'theme' - but they make it worse, since *sometimes* the app is "Google AppName" and other times, just "AppName" - so you can't find it alphabetically nor by quick icon differentiation :-(

@carlt4 true! It's so annoying. To work around it, I opted to just group all Google apps manually, but that's another layer of effort I'm going to dig through and sometimes I don't have the time or energy for it. So annoying.

@teacherbuknoy On Android, I use Nova Launcher* which lets me rename them. I haven't gone as far as to switch the icons.

*other launchers are available.

@carlt4 I've used Nova Launcher before, it was nice.
