An unusual visitor at Lake Wallace (near Lithgow, NSW) today.

A pair of black Muscovy ducks.

My guess is they have wandered out of somebody's back yard in Wallarawangg and discovered a slice of heaven.

These two, if they don't die in winter, will probably set up home and start a small feral population.

Silly mainlanders, shooting endangered wedge tailed eagles one at a time is so inefficient. Down here in Very Smart Tasmania, we log their native forest habitat instead, destroying both the birds *and* their ability to recover in the future. Cheered on, I might add, by all major political parties.

Every #spring, migratory #birds make incredible journeys from Central and #SouthAmerica to their breeding grounds in #NorthAmerica, navigating thousands of miles and countless hazards.

This Cornell Lab of #Ornithology visualization shows the pathways of 15 different species, highlighting how they navigate cities and landscapes. It also reminds us how small interventions like reducing nighttime lighting and making windows bird-visible can help protect these travelers. 📊🐦

Our Nigerian dwarf goats—Tobey, Jonas, Gunther, and Maxwell— just celebrated their very first birthday with “cupcakes” and presents to unwrap (aren't they pros?)! You could say, it was an absolute baaa-last! 🐐🎁 t.co/HWcYlZ9cgX
