KProfsBlog<p>Plaintiffs, injured while in an Uber, claim that they did not agree to arbitrate. Their 12-year-old daughter was using her mother’s Uber Eats app, and she agreed to terms. The arbiter can work that out, says the court. Bondage has replaced freedom of K.</p><p><a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/law" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>law</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/contracts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>contracts</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/uber" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>uber</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/arbitration" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>arbitration</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/TermsOfService" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TermsOfService</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://lawprofessors.typepad.com/contractsprof_blog/2025/03/uber-eats-order-leads-to-compelled-arbitration-after-uber-car-accident.html" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">lawprofessors.typepad.com/cont</span><span class="invisible">ractsprof_blog/2025/03/uber-eats-order-leads-to-compelled-arbitration-after-uber-car-accident.html</span></a></p>
Chris Castelot Russia Invades<p>During the trump first term he “negotiated” the replacement of NAFTA with a new agreement. Less than two months into his second term he unilaterally tears it up and starts a trade war. </p><p>Let’s juxtapose that with trumps extortionate attempts to make a “deal” with Ukraine. First for rare earth minerals and then for a wider peace deal with Russia. </p><p>Given what we know about both trump and putin and their “honoring” agreements would you be willing to sign?</p><p><a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/mexico" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mexico</span></a> <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/canada" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>canada</span></a> <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/us" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>us</span></a> <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/uspolitics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>uspolitics</span></a> <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/ukraine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ukraine</span></a> <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/russia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>russia</span></a> <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/eu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>eu</span></a> <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/europe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>europe</span></a> <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/economics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>economics</span></a> <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/contracts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>contracts</span></a> <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/maga" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>maga</span></a> <a href="https://ioc.exchange/tags/trump" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>trump</span></a></p>
Howlin' Hobbit<p>my sweetie’s book has just been accepted by a publisher. you go girl!</p><p>the problem is, they have two levels for this.</p><p>the first one wants $4,000 dollars up front!</p><p>the second option is around $200, again. up front.</p><p>this puts me in mind of a famous essay about the record industry’s contracts, titled, “Some of your friends are already this fucked.”</p><p>Luci’s *not* stupid, but I’m still a little wary.</p><p>any advice on how I should bring up the subject?</p><p><a href="https://musicians.today/tags/advice" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>advice</span></a> <a href="https://musicians.today/tags/contracts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>contracts</span></a></p>
KProfsBlog<p>A quick post on Dellinger v. Bessent, in which a District Court upheld the power of Congress to protect some federal employees by statute. This will shoot up to SCOTUS and might be an opportunity for it to revisit Humphrey’s Executor. The Court is poised to embrace an extreme version of the Unitary Executive theory, which would allow the President to terminate any federal employee, even those whom Congress tried to insulate from caprice.</p><p><a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/law" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>law</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/contracts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>contracts</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/FederalWorkers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FederalWorkers</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Litigation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Litigation</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/ConstitutionalLaw" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ConstitutionalLaw</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/SCOTUS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SCOTUS</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://lawprofessors.typepad.com/contractsprof_blog/2025/03/district-court-finds-white-house-cannot-first-independent-counsel-by-executive-order.html" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">lawprofessors.typepad.com/cont</span><span class="invisible">ractsprof_blog/2025/03/district-court-finds-white-house-cannot-first-independent-counsel-by-executive-order.html</span></a></p>
