From the article: "New technology — and its rapid adoption for remote work during COVID-19 — continues to break down many barriers for people with disabilities. There are more ways than ever for workplaces to ensure accessibility, often at little to no cost. For example, voice recognition expands communication options for those who face challenges with traditional keyboards. And auto-captioning ensures that people who are deaf or experiencing hearing loss can fully engage with multimedia content."

“These payments are mandatory and must be remitted through payroll tax deposits, typically on a semi-weekly or monthly schedule. Late deposits can result in penalties ranging from 2% to 15% of the unpaid amount.”

If I was a business owner and had been paying into SSA for someone for 10-20 years and realized now that it all might evaporate into thin air, I’d be asking myself if I wanted to stay in business.

From the article: "With people aged 75 and older projected to be the fastest growing segment of the U.S. workforce, HR leaders face an urgent challenge: adapting workplaces to accommodate older employees working past the traditional retirement age.

“As our workforce ages, employers must shift their mindset to view accommodations for older workers not as an added burden but as an opportunity to enhance productivity, retain talent and foster an inclusive workplace,” said Brandy Burch, CEO at Benefitbay, a benefits solutions provider.

"The demographic shift is already well underway. The average age of workers in the U.S. is 42, with some industries skewing even older. Yet, many companies fall behind when it comes to accommodating older employees."

Headline: EEOC shift on LGBT protections creates legal complications for businesses

Source: The Business Journals

From the article: "The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission under the Trump administration is reversing course on LGBT protections, which is putting businesses in a difficult spot.

"That’s because, despite the EEOCs decision to withdraw from a number of cases prosecuting LGBT discrimination claims and President Donald Trump's executive orders that target transgender Americans, discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation is still against federal law. That was reaffirmed in a 6-3 decision by the Supreme Court in Bostock v. Clayton County in 2020.

“While the federal government now recognizes only male and female sexes, private-sector employers should keep in mind that the [executive order] does not reverse binding court precedent, and employers must continue to comply with Title VII and applicable state laws — many of which are in direct conflict with the EO,” said Mariah Berry, senior associate at Muskat Devine LLP, in an email."

@KimPerales

I'm sure it's in the article but I want to pull up two points for visibility. #Immigrants are willing to work harder jobs for lower wages while doing a better job than most US natives. So:
1) Farm #productivity will go down, history has shown this. Lower productivity will lead to scarcity leading to #inflation
2) hiring enough US citizens to match current productivity will require higher #wages -> inflation.

That #employers can get away with paying such low wages is another topic.

So #bosses are now #firing/not hiring #GenZ #workers because they act their #wage and don’t take crap from their bosses ?

I say good for Gen Z’ers for sticking to their guns. We need a #change in this #work #hellscape we are living in. Because of this , Gen Z’ers are being called individuals without motivation and “difficult to work with “. I think #employers have met their match. Perhaps employers should understand Gen Z a bit better.
