David Ahrens<p>A fantasy for <a href="https://musician.social/tags/ConcertBand" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ConcertBand</span></a> based on <a href="https://musician.social/tags/Greenlandic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Greenlandic</span></a> composer Rasmus Berthelsen’s beloved <a href="https://musician.social/tags/Christmas" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Christmas</span></a> hymn “Guuterput”. The original <a href="https://musician.social/tags/hymn" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hymn</span></a> blends traditional <a href="https://musician.social/tags/Inuit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Inuit</span></a> Inukkuut drum songs with the protestant <a href="https://musician.social/tags/Christian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Christian</span></a> hymns of <a href="https://musician.social/tags/Denmark" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Denmark</span></a>. Present in this reimagining of the folk song are a chorale style hymn statement, solos for many instruments (particularly <a href="https://musician.social/tags/euphonium" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>euphonium</span></a> prominent mallet percussion, and full band chorale singing approximating the portamento and great reverence found in the <a href="https://musician.social/tags/Inukkuut" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Inukkuut</span></a> style.</p>
