Allow it to air dry, then wash it. It bonds to the fabric and is effective for several months and repeated washings. Any ticks don't stay long enough to embed. It's similar to the field protocol the US Army used before their uniforms came pre-embedded with Permethrin. pandoraThis morning a fleet of flies were pestering me in my tent and they just wouldn't leave when I packed up. Piching my tent tonight, I found 20 dead flies inside. Their usual life expectancy is a couple of weeks. And didn't find a single tick on my body during months of hiking. A year later the treatment seems to be keeping off the ticks off of me while I'm out in the meadow or cutting grass. My bugsaway shirt greatly reduces <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/mosquitoes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#mosquitoes</a> around my head. Not sure if <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/permethrin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#permethrin</a> embedded in clothing fabric is safer than <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/DEET" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#DEET</a> on the skin, but it certainly feels a lot less gross.
