I was trying to get a shot of how Mr Swayze had sprawled across the bed while I was up to take a piss, but as usual any attempt to catch him in a cute pose while he's anywhere short of sound asleep causes him to break pose, so instead you get a sleepy old gentlecat sitting up and giving me "what" vibe. But at least he stopped hogging the bed so I could climb back in. Sigh, the logistics of co-sleeping with a large cat with large personality.

Mr Swayze pauses to clear his throat with a nice drink of water before sending the rest of his breakfast down the hatch.
I just gotta boast on my dear Mr Swayze, who is, no joke, one of the smartest cats I've personally gotten to know. He has picked up the routine I've developed for giving him his daily eyedrops with lightning speed - he's admittedly a bit over-eager to get to the treat-reward part, but he minds me surprisingly well when I remind him to sit on the chair facing me, refrains from struggling while I hold his head to get the drop in, and then waits more-or-less patiently while I get the eyedrops safely stowed and serve up his treat. I'd initially been dreading trying to get this gunk in his eye, but the old gentlecat is so cooperative that it's a delight to work with him. And also massively food-motivated, TBH, but that takes nothing away from his smarts in the service of snacks. 
Even though cats can’t see the color orange, Gnomer Pyle still sees himself as the perfect cat for you to adopt.

Yep, Mr Swayze has total permission to use his favorite chair as his scratching post. After all, it's his chair. And its aging fabric is not worth protecting anyway. It's actually perfect for him - it's a vital part of his daily zoomies workout routine.
I'm glad I decided to close the window nearest to Mr Swayze's chair and lower its blinds before nightfall today, so that he was not upset by the return of the outdoor cat who has become enamored of my porch. In fact, so far Mr Swayze seems to have not even noticed.

Mr Swayze couldn't care less what the vet tech said about his weight, he just wants to keep lapping up the food goodness. Which he's doing even more thoroughly now that I've cut back his daily intake a bit.
