The House on Wed rejected Speaker #MikeJohnson’s plan to fund the govt for 6 months, cranking up tensions around a fast-approaching #government #shutdown deadline not only throughout #Congress but also w/in #Republicans’ House majority.
14 #Republicans joined w/ #Democrats [sick of doing the GOP’s work for them & who objected to racist additions to the bill] to block it.

#MikeJohnson’s bill, which combined a 6-month extension of federal funds at current spending levels w/a measure the #House already passed requiring proof of #citizenship to register to #vote in national #elections. The Democratic-controlled #Senate & the White House oppose the House bill, because of the length of the extension & because of the registration provisions.
#Funding for the federal #government expires Sept 30, & w/o an extension, most federal govt operations would shut down Oct 1 as millions of #Americans begin early #voting in Nov’s #election.
Wed’s result—a 220-202 vote w/2 voting present—was hardly in doubt. #GOP lawmakers from across the ideological spectrum had said publicly for more than a week that they opposed the #legislation. But #MikeJohnson has insisted there is “no Plan B” to prevent a #shutdown if the bill fails. .
#Republican leaders knew they had probably set up the vote to #fail. 2 people familiar w/ #MikeJohnson’s thinking said #Republicans are expected to blame #Democrats [who do NOT control the #House, so good luck w/that] & the handful of #GOP colleagues who tanked their bill as the reason Johnson must now pivot & begin negotiations [beggar] w/a #Democratic-led #Senate.

#Trump may have thrown off those plans w/a Wednesday afternoon social media post 
demanding that #Republicans include the #voting registration bill…in a #funding package, or force a #GovernmentShutdown.
“BE SMART, REPUBLICANS, YOU’VE BEEN PUSHED AROUND LONG ENOUGH BY THE DEMOCRATS. DON’T LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN,” the idiot wrote.
#Democrats are expected to propose a 3-month extension of current #funding, known as a continuing resolution or #CR, which #pragmatic #Republicans unwilling to #shutdown the #government support.
#Defense hawks had voiced worries that a 6-month spending bill would hamstring #NationalSecurity spending, preferring a shorter extension that would give #Congress more time to agree on new spending levels for the rest of the fiscal year.

@Nonilex we’re a clown show. I fully expect us to be taken over by any foreign powers at this point. We’ve got a corrupt traitor with dementia telling the government what to do via his personal social media app, and they’re doing it! 
Why is evangelical Johnson doing anything doofus wants? Doofus is as far from Christ/God/Spirit as a person could be. It’s all total hypocrisy. Blatant & tragic ridiculousness. I’m embarrassed for the US.
