The images are pulled from a July post on the union's website where union President #HaroldDaggett asked for members to "pray" for Trump in the wake of the assassination attempt in PA.
In the post Daggett recalled a 2023 meeting w/ Trump where the fmr president appeared to express support for the #Longshoremen.

In 2005, Bush’s #Justice Department accused Daggett of being an “associate” of the Genovese crime family – one of the “Five Families” of the US #Mafia.
#HaroldDaggett took the witness stand that year after federal prosecutors charged him w/ #racketeering.

During the course of the trial, one of Daggett’s co-defendants – Lawrence Ricci, an alleged major #mob figure – disappeared. His body was found weeks later decomposing in the trunk of a car outside a New Jersey diner.
Daggett was acquitted in 2 cases – even though the famous black-and-white mob movie “On the Waterfront” was inspired by his #longshoremen’s #union.
Over the years, #HaroldDaggett has bad-mouthed the #WaterfrontCommission – a #regulatory agency that was formed following the movie & created to prevent #corruption among New York & New Jersey #ports.

Dennis, the executive vice president of the #ILA, earned $250,156 in the fiscal year ended December 2022, acc/to ProPublica. John, the general vice president of the Atlantic Coast District ILA, reportedly earned $264,228 in the same period.

Now, he’s using his trademark aggression to fight suppliers, govt agencies & even President #Biden on the strikes – which will cause #supplychain logjams & could cost the #economy billions each day, according to JP Morgan.
Retailers, auto suppliers & produce importers had hoped Biden would impose the federal #TaftHartley Act, which allows US presidents to enact an 80-day cooling-off period that forces employees to return to work during certain labor disputes.
But those hopes were swept away when #Biden said that he does not believe in #TaftHartley.
#HaroldDaggett had mocked the idea during an interview in early September [see above].
“Do you think when I go back for 90 days those men are gonna go to work on that pier?” Daggett said.
#HaroldDaggett is third generation #ILA member, his father & namesake, Harold Daggett, Sr., who worked in the ILA industry for 57 years.
So this guy is totally “On the Waterfront” legacy, the mafia always keeps it in the family.

We have been through strike-related disruptions before. The West Coast unions struck a few years ago to get decent pay and treatment. We all lived.
Now the East Coast unions are striking for the same pay as the west coast gets, improved health and disability benefits, no automating jobs away, and no invasive workplace surveillance.

In 1966 I was 16 and visited my grandma in Cleveland. I needed a summer job, and she had a renter living in an attic apartment in her home who had connections with the mob. Danny had served 20 years for a murder - he was a hit man, but didn’t do that crime, he took the fall for the son of someone who was higher up. I remember that he could play gin rummy better than anyone I’ve known before or since.
He took me to the docks, and the union man was assigning jobs to the workers, grown men with families who needed to work. They didn’t all get work that day, but I did, was put on a ship unloading cargo.

Danny asked me how things went when I got home and I told him about my day. He seemed unhappy with the specifics and went with me to have a conversation with the union boss the next day. After that, I got sent to work in the warehouse, a much cushier job than on the ship, I got a union card and had a great summer. My coworker showed me all kinds of illegal activities, I saw him use a motorized pallet jack to assault a guard who had uncovered a stash of goods he was stealing and I also got very drunk on some Lancers rosé that was being stored in the warehouse. Made for a very confusing commute home on public transportation that evening. Opened my eyes to the corruption and dishonesty on the waterfront.
