The top agent at #FBI’s #NY field office said in an email Mon that he had been forced out of his job. His departure follows clashes w/ #DOJ ofcls over #Trump admin directives.
The veteran agent, James E. Dennehy, was told to retire from leading the FBI’s largest field office, delivering another blow to the senior ranks of the FBI. Dennehy… had angered Trump admin ofcls by supporting bureau leaders who resisted turning over the names of those who investigated #Jan6.
Dennehy had also angered #PamBondi by what she claimed was the #NY office’s failure to turn over all investigative files related to #JeffreyEpstein, the financier charged w/ #SexTrafficking who killed himself in prison.Bondi provided no evidence to back up her assertion.
“Late Fri, I was informed that I needed to put my retirement papers in today….I was not given a reason for this decision.…I apologize to all of you for not being able to fulfill my commitment to you,”Dennehy wrote…to colleagues.
