The snr #Trump allies held talks w/Ukrainian opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko, a remorselessly ambitious fmr prime minister [Politico’s characterization], & snr members of the party of Petro Poroshenko, #Zelensky’s immediate predecessor as president, acc/to 3 Ukrainian parliamentarians & a #US #Republican #ForeignPolicy expert.
The discussions centered on whether #Ukraine could hold quick presidential elections. These are being delayed in line w/the country’s #constitution because Ukraine remains under martial law. Critics of holding elections say they could be chaotic & play into #Russia’s hands, with so many potential voters serving on the front lines or living abroad as refugees.
The ofcl line from the #US admin is that #Trump is not interfering in #Ukraine’s domestic politics. #Commerce Secy #HowardLutnick denied his boss was “weighing into Ukrainian politics,” adding all that Trump wants is a partner for peace.
But the behavior of Trump & his ofcls suggests quite the opposite. Trump has accused #Zelensky of being a “dictator without elections,” & hinted he would not be “around very long” if he didn’t do a deal w/ #Russia.
Director of National *Intelligence* #TulsiGabbard has falsely accused Kyiv of canceling the election. (In response to the news in this article, #ElonMusk tweeted: “Ukraine needs to hold an election. Zelensky would lose by a landslide.”) [yeah, sure, okay].
But while the #Trump camp may hope an election will sink #Zelensky, he is still massively more popular than Tymoshenko & Poroshenko.
Wow, you'd think the Director of National Intelligence would *know* if an election was cancelled or not.

Trump is a narcissistic, cowardly bully.
Of course he's afraid of an honourable, courageous man such as President Zelenskyy.
He doesn't know how to conduct himself in the presence of a man of principle and integrity.
