Tom
There are a flood of reflection posts on various social networks, but my advice is don't set difficult to keep resolutions, review and reflect regularly, then re-focus and re-adapt. Last year I had some challenges, so I started journaling which allowed me to do just that - reflect on the issues as they happen. I even created a small powershell universal tool to help me journal when my mind was blank.

Review, Reflect, Refocus, Readapt.

#mentalhealth #journaling #powershell

It's been set up for a while now, but only now have I realised how awesome this is, and how ingrained it is into my daily workflows.

The sync integration with is incredible. All my daily notes, to-do's, and thoughts safely sync'ed across my devices away from AI harvesters. Oh and did i mention its also encrypted?

And that's just one part of it - superchargeable with the addon's available !

Thanks @joplinapp and @nextcloud

In addition to me documenting the various technical challenges I face in my career, I've been also documenting significant as I move into new chapters of my life.

I've just documented my thoughts about my first that I ran last week.

I've started documenting various issues\problems that I face in my role when working in .

My first technical post is all about the challenges faced when securing in a multi-tenancy environment. I will write more as and when I come across other interesting issues!

I'm confused. I had a notification from to renew my Certified Practitioner, and Cloud Quest is available in beta for renewing it before end of May. I diligently did all the quests (very painful), and its renewed - however it doesn't say it is anywhere? In , it shows as an additional badge. Once successfully navigated the hell that is their logon process for training, it also hasn't updated.

Is this just me or is this process somewhat unfinished?

I'm looking for ideas on how to access an externally from a report in the customers tenancy, with a strong preference to DISABLE this setting on the ASQL : "Allow Azure services and resources to access this server".

VNet Data Gateway looked promising, but doesnt work cross-tenancy and Data Gateway cant have external users. What else is there? The does not have to be ASQL - but does need to be in .

how do you secure mgmt to or workloads? Do you use a Point to Site to them, or tech such as Just In Time access?
I have inherited a only estate in Azure, and currently it's all JIT. I'm looking at VPN Gateway SKUs, but it all comes rather £££ per month.. especially if you include Private Resolvers.
Also how do people manage dev/test/prod envs in this context? Complete LAN separation or user access control?

Boosts, comments and thoughts are most welcome!

Hey and experts... can you help pls?

I have a need to restart an instance using this - learn.microsoft.com/en-us/rest.

See image1 - this shows the Instance name in portal. How can I get that from PowerShell or the ?

In the image2, when querying the API, I get "machine name" which is totally different. 🤷‍♂️

Even after solving this, i still need to programmatically get outbound network connections! Ideas or suggestions welcome on any part of this post!

I wrote a script called the-shish that I'd like to share with the community. It enumerates all VM's across multiple (or specified) subscriptions, initiates Just-In-Time access and then connects to either one or multiple VM's. Appreciate there are better ways, but this was borne out of frustration with an environment I had inherited as . I welcome comments and improvements!

Hi and experts. I'm struggling between App Services and Functions for an internal API - resiliency is the key requirement and the SLAs are causing some discussions 🙂

What is required to meet the 99.95% SLA of services? E.g. Compare to VM's - 95% SLA if you use HDD, but if Premium SSD its 99.9%.
Also.. What about - Are their consumption SKU by default 99.95% SLA without additional config?

I completed my Solutions Expert exam (az-305). Pleased, although the proctoring experience was very poor. 45-50mins to get into the exam. There was no sound for the proctor, and they had little patience to help me resolve, to the point they stated they would revoke exam if not resolved! Not sure what was going on! Confused why they couldn't use my mobile number to call and verify though? (it was stated as an option of contact)

Well, thanks . What was supposed to be a delightful day off playing with the kids before xmas was actually a day of resetting passwords. I actually wish you told us about the real impact of the in September or October - heck - I'd even take November at a push - just not 2 days before Christmas.

Hey @stux - I've set up a patreon monthly for you. You're doing a great job. As a fellow its nice when people say they appreciate the work they are doing - as there is all sorts of ongoing maint going on that nobody knows about!
