Office Hours: What the hell are they really aiming to do? https://robertreich.substack.com/p/office-hours-what-the-hell-are-they?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=mastodon
see how far they can push things..
how far they can go.
even they are not sure how far the public will
permit them to take things.
I am guessing they don't read much history. Most people don't. It gets in the way of their egos too much and too often. History is what happened to others. They themselves are unique, different. Outside of history and immune to the currents of human nature.
The mob is fickle. Sometimes bullets reach their target accurately.
Remember too that Elon has admitted he is on the autistic spectrum. When his time comes, he likely won't even see the knife coming..
@felis_catus_domesticus @rbreich
skuM didn’t admit to being autistic, he claimed to self-diagnose with Aspergers as an excuse for being an ass.
Also Marat had it coming, and David would gladly paint flattering portraits of Donnie.
@rbreich Trump won by 1.5% in the popular vote. In a parliamentary democracy, such a thin margin would be deeply concerning to any party that "won" by so little. Power shifts easily. Yet still the Republicans speak of a "mandate" like Dubya did when he won by a mere 3% back in 2000. It's laughable. Republicans talk as if they are still winning by 1980's era margins which they haven't actually had in over 40 years. Mandate my ass. I see a bunch of people with a merely tenuous grip on power.
@rbreich
Why is it so important to scrutinize to the utmost detail what THEY are aiming to do, and not what WE are aiming to do?
And, let's assume we get to know what the hell they are aiming to do. Then, what?
I'm afraid that's the definition of heteronomy. Contrast that to autonomy, i.e. strategic or tactic goals that individuals, groups, parties etc set for themselves and try to achieve, taking into account existing conditions.
What are OUR goals which will avoid repeating history?
