I've always found the tablet scene on Android to be a mess. Cheap tablets last for maybe a year before they refuse to work properly. More expensive tablets might see about two or three years of usefulness.
Google can't even be consistent with them. It's why I got an iPad.

In general I liked Android tablets but you are so right about how short lived they are. Ironically an Amazon tablet I bought on a good sale out-lived every other tablet I've owned.
@Dr_Ubertrout How long did it last?
@silver_huskey
5 years and I suspect if I charged it, the thing might still run.
@Dr_Ubertrout Wow, that's pretty good! You definitely got your money's worth!
@silver_huskey
I think I paid like $60 for it. My nice Samsung didn't quite make it 3 years before crapping out.
@Dr_Ubertrout That's great for the Amazon tablet, a real shame for Samsung. I had an expensive Samsung tablet that didn't make it that long either.

At this point, I'll one off of AliExpress if I ever get another. No reason to sink a lot of money into it.
