Work. I guess we should really call it, “fuck around and take a nap….
@GhostOnTheHalfShell
A good essay. Also,
- Sleeping is "battling for energy" in a sense, conservation and recognition hyperdrive is not needed for survival.
- Herbet Spencer coined "survival of the fittest" not Darwin.
- Natural selection is not just about the fittest, the fittest only emerge from environmental conditions. The more basic principle of population biology is tolerance of the weaklings and miscreants and mutants, since they are the diverse pool from which robustness to sudden change occurs.
- Leisure is relative. When rich ꕗ𖧳𖧥𖨚𖢧𖧥𖦪𖦧s surround you, sucking rent off you, and your government is not protecting you, then there is no such thing as goofing off at work and taking naps. (Except for the extremely lucky anti-social ℭ𝔘𝔑𝔗𝔰 who can afford to live off the rent grid.)
Overall though, I have big problems with any biological reductionism or socio-biology, since human beings (and any other sentient aliens) transcend physics. No other life-forms are capable of modelling their world and changing it so dramatically vi a feedback. Biology does not explain this power of the mind at all.
And it is kind of wonderful we "Apes" do amazing stuff in say mathematics that has no known practical application whatsoever outside of keeping nerds happy. 𝔣𝔘𝔠𝔎 around with algebra and then take a nap.
You should go find a book called “ Entangled life”
You might feel humbled 10 pages in. ;)

That's a good one.
The pages were not numbered for my eBook copy. But if you mean Life is richer than we can possibly imagine then one has no objections.
I'd like to say T4G is "fungal spacetime" now, not wormholes. But I cannot quite get there fully.
