I haven't owned a single pair of actually supportive shoes in a bit. When I moved in 2021 I used supportive flats... here's the thing. If you've been wearing shoes since 2021, they're not that supportive anymore.
And last year I went to a camping thing (that I'm doing again this year) and my feet just got shredded on the rocky trails.
So I bought a pair of hiking sandals and a pair of hiking shoes (not boots). The shoes aren't here yet, but I'm wearing the sandals, and I am SO HAPPY right now.
They need breaking in, but like... good gravy have I been missing out on real support all this long?
(This is where I kvetch at myself for my "nobody needs supportive shoes" trend-following I did after Born to Run came out. People with EDS probably DO need real shoes, past me... )
Anyway - my feets are happy
@justanna Do you mind sharing what shoes and sandals you got?
@curlywench Sure -
I have on a pair of Teva Omnium hiking sandals. They're a little snug on my instep, but I think that'll break in - already more comfy after an hour or so wearing.
The hiking shoes I got are the L.L. Bean Trail Model Hiker 4 Ventilated Low - they have great reviews and were supposed to be good for a wider toe box (which I need).
The shoes should be here by Monday, so I'll let you know how they are!
