Google DocsDisabledInSTEM Secret Santa Gift Exchange 2024! Hello all! I'm organizing a Secret Santa for the DisabledInSTEM community (and allies if they're interested in participating!). With the pandemic, many disabled individuals have been unable to leave their homes, which is especially difficult during the holiday season. Given everything going on in the world, many are feeling isolated. In order to brighten up everyone's season, I'm organizing this Secret Santa Gift Exchange for the third year! Even if this only brightens a few people's holiday season, it's worth it! How it works: Fill out this form with your information, which MUST include an Amazon wishlist. I'm using Amazon wishlist so each person does not need to disclose their address, but it can be shipped directly to them. On your Amazon list, please have a few items (~$25) so that your Secret Santa can pick either one item around ~$25 or multiple items that end up close to that price. Your Secret Santa will select the item(s) and it will be shipped to you! In exchange, you will be matched with another person and do the same thing for them! This way everyone gets a nice little treat that they would like during the holiday season and able to spread the joy! My goal is to send matches out early December so that people can get a gift before the end of the year, but it depends on how many people are interested. Google DocsDisabledInSTEM Mentee Application 2025Thank you for your interest in becoming a mentee for Disabled in STEM! This is the fifth year of the program and we are so grateful to have been able to run it these past years with support from the community. This program features mentoring pods, which will allow for interactions between multiple mentees and mentors. The goal of these mentoring pods are to provide disabled individuals in STEM with a mentor(s) who could help guide them through the process, such as by working on soft skills related to excelling in STEM, such as interviewing, personal statements, networking, etc. Please only apply to this program if you have a disability and are in a STEM-field (including psychology!). Mentors are volunteers who are committed to helping those DisabledInSTEM succeed. Some have a disability themselves and some are allies. We cannot guarantee that your mentor(s) will be in the same field as you are, but there's still a lot that can be learned and connected through this experience! Mentors are all volunteers so they may have limited bandwidth throughout the year-long program. As part of the program, mentoring pods will be asked to meet monthly along with setting goals/tasks to be completed. Tasks may be reading assignment related to a career, attending a conference, talking to someone else in the field, or anything else as it will be dependent on what works best for the members of your pod! Each pod is able to costuming the program to whatever fits their needs! Members will be matched in a pod during January via e-mail and invited to a Slack to connect everyone in the program for the 2025 Mentorship Program. For the #Spacetober day 11 prompt wavelength: my #linocut of trailblazing US #astronomer Annie Jump Cannon (1863 – 1941) with her stellar classification system which sorted stars based on spectral types, revealing their temperature from hot blue to cool red stars: O,B,A, F, G, K & M. Named the Harvard Classification after the university, her tremendous contribution was less visible. 🧵1/n

My linocut of Annie Jump Cannon shows her in a 3/4 profile view wearing a shirt with a lace collar and her hair up. She is printed in a gradient of violet at the bottom to green at the top, printed on white 11” x 14” paper. The background is printed in a gradient (left to right) of dark blue, light blue, yellow, pale yellow, pale orange, orange and red.
