The Supreme Court in 1898 “decreed that the U.S.-born children of immigrants were citizens, regardless of their parents’ ancestry.” The 14th Amendment to the Constitution established that citizenship category and ranges through more than a century of federal constitutional law that Trump and his allies are now trying to overturn. This will be a basic test of the durability of our constitutional form of government. If Trump and his minions can do this… they will be emboldened to do more, to dismantle those parts of our founding documents that don’t suit their authoritarian agenda. #Constitution #RuleOfLaw #FoundingFathers #BirthrightCitizenship #Fascist

Remember when #Emoluments were something we actually CARED about (and was SO concerning, the #FoundingFathers prohibited them IN THE #CONSTITUTION?)

The #GrifterInChief already violated The Emoluments Clause 9 Ways to Sunday in his first term, and his corrupt #SCotUS & #GOP let him get away with it during his first term, so *now* they aren't even *pretending* to be concerned about it. #CriminalPresidency #WeAreSoScrewed #ConvictedFelon

MSNBC · Open for business: Trump abandons pretense of ethics for second termBy MSNBC

I find the modern USAnian partisan hack "conservatives" kind of ridiculous. If #Washington or #Jefferson or most of the other "founding fathers" of the USA had been in the courtroom when the "originalist" / "textualist" Supreme Court justices invented their "President is immune from all criminal law" doctrine from whole cloth, they would have immediately stood up, drawn their pistol, and ended such justices then and there.

Because they would have recognized it for what it is: the re-institution of the supreme King as absolute ruler, which they had risked life and limb to abolish and establish a new government of, for, and by the People.

They wouldn't have put up with it for a second.
