I thought I would start, like Confederation, in PEI. The symbols of Prince Edward Island, its provincial bird, the blue jay and its tree, the red oak cover the hand-carved map of PEI in this linocut.

They are not very mighty but they are the first acorns on the red oak. I guess it takes two years so maybe what I saw last year was the start and these will grow out to maturity this year?
It was a grown from an acorn tree, probably 15+ years ago.

Jacob's passion was #Plants & he spent his #SpareTime #Botanizing. He labeled all his #Specimens with his #Impeccable #Handwriting.
He #Spied a unique #Species of #RedOak & told the Botanist Nathaniel Lord #Britton. Britton named the oak in Jacob's honor - Quercus Schneckii, also known as the Schneck #Oak.
Jacob died at 63, tending his patients to the end - despite his own #Pneumonia.
