From "The Lady of Sorrows", by Cecelia Dart-Thorton. Book 2 in The Bitterbynde series.
A truly gorgeous fantasy series that breathes life into old folk tales of the Irish, Scottish and English isles.
I read book 1 while looking after my child-bot, reading through lunch times while he slept against my leg, both of us too hot for anything more than that.
I have been uncertain what to read for a while, so I thought of trying the Marie Kondo method (pick up an item of clothing/junk around your house. If it doesn't make you go Yay! then get rid of it).
I totally forgot about the idea until I opened book 2 randomly today, read 1 paragraph of the "Last Time" and felt such a torrent of happiness and joy to be back with old friends again, in a realm I missed very much. I haven't felt that joy and privilege to find a book I love so much, in maybe 4 years?
So I'm happy, and excited, and heavily suggesting the book to you.

Oh and my favourite bit? Cecelia was personal friends with the late great Tannith Lee (the best writer of scifi/fantasy you don't know about, may she rest in peace) and the book is only 10 chapters long, despite being 600+ pages.
I adore #books that make up the rules for themself by themself.
Love you all,
Moriarty.
I hope everyone's having a nice relaxing weekend!
#MaXXXine is due out on July 5. Who wants to chat about #Ti West’s first two parts of his #MiaGoth led #trilogy on “Ninety For Chill: The Podcast with CatBusRuss”? I’ll chat about any #movie is you have at least 40 minutes to Zoom.
I am free to record all day on #Sunday, June 30. If need be, a late-night recording session is something I will be up for. The podcast will be released on July 3. Thanks.
"Trilogy" by Emerson, Lake & Palmer was released on this day in 1972.
