ICYMI, Adam Serwer’s “The REAL DEI Candidates”

“…Many ** have focused on not because of their moral & sometimes practical objections to efforts…but because it allows THEM to express underlying assumptions about the inherent inferiority of people & implicitly, w/o sounding like THEY are making those assumptions themselves.“

The Atlantic · The Real DEI CandidatesBy Adam Serwer

“This way they can argue that it is not that THEY think people & are inferior; it is that initiatives inherently elevate people who are unqualified. For example, when announced that she & her running mate, MN Gov , would do the traditional postconvention interview w/both of them (as & his running mate, , did), suggested that she must be incapable of being interviewed alone.”

“After ’s performance on Tues, tried to reconcile the difference between their perception of her as an idiot & the reality of what they saw onstage. abounded— insisted that she’d had the questions beforehand, while conservatives on social media speculated that she had speakers in her earrings that were telling her what to say.”

“I don’t want to overstate the importance of debating—being a good debater says little about whether you would be a good president—but the right’s assumptions about ’s intellectual capacity were clearly invalidated by her performance.

@Nonilex A Vance presidency will be so much more dangerous even than a tfg presidency. #Project2025

@Nonilex It’s probably too much to hope for, but it would be nice if the moderators of the Vice Presidential debate ask some questions that shine a light on the candidates’ knowledge of important issues, policies, factual information, etc.

projecting their warped views onto rivals. they box themselves in. only makes sense to other narrow minded box mates I guess.
